CUBE AT 100
by Max Deutsch
On February 24, 2025 — my 32nd birthday — I scrambled a Rubik's Cube and spent 15 minutes memorizing the scrambled layout.
Then, I took the unsolved cube and sealed it in a box. I locked that box in another box.
I will not open that box until my 100th birthday. February 24, 2093.
On that date, I will blindfold myself. Someone else will open the boxes and hand me the scrambled cube. From memory, I will attempt to solve it. 68 years later.
To succeed, I must stay healthy. I must maintain my memory and my dexterity. I must also live to 100.
If I don't make it, the cube will remained unsolved forever. A painful, unsatisfying end.
